About

Marie and Darren are both creative practitioners and graphic designers with a passion for all things print. Marie is an award winning graphic designer, freelance designer and senior university lecturer teaching graphic design and is also Adobe Certified. Darren is a graphic designer, illustrator and total print din and a fellow part time lecturer too. We hold several professional memberships including The British Printing Society, The Society of Bookbinders and The Oxford Guild of Printers.

Our background is in graphic design, print, illustration and animation. We have run several exhibitions together and worked with each other for nearly 20 years, collaborating on large scale projects, writing and managing successful bids, working with the local council and youth charities as creatives and artists as well as delivering professional practice talks. We have a focus on the connection between analogue and digital practice within the creative sector as well as bringing marginalised communities together via creative projects.

We run a print collective and riso studio based in Portsmouth. We design, make and sell prints as well as pins, stationery and apparel online and from our studio at The Hotwalls Studios.

We love to teach and run workshops in Risograph Printing, Letterpress, Bookbinding, Book Design, Lego Printing, Foiling, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. We also run kids workshops including Lego printing, Risograph printing and Paper Making.

We feel very lucky to have a beautiful studio that backs onto the beach that houses our risos, letterpress, bookbinding equipment and heat presses as well as a tonne of hot inks and fancy paper stocks.
